Abe
Ascending -- A Novel
ABE ASCENDING is an off-the-ground historical fiction recounting the unknown
events in the last week of Lincoln's life . When Lincoln's incorrigible twelve-year-old son Tad disappears
along with the daughter of Sarah Taft, an old flame from Lincoln's days as a young country attorney, Lincoln and Sarah
scramble to find their missing children.
Employing aerial reconnaissance, subterfuge, and the physical skills of his
frontier days, Lincoln slips the fetters of the White House and enters the chaos of wartime Washington D.C. -- a city
brimming with wounded soldiers, refugees, sham spiritualists, zealot Radicals, and Confederate sympathizers. Lincoln
and Sarah struggle against a nefarious shadow organization, the Knights of the Golden Diamond, in a contest that
could determine the fate of the Union.
ABE ASCENDING crafts a portrait of Lincoln as a shrewd, earthy hero who
bears both a parent's worst fears and the nation's awesome burdens with endearing wit and warmth. In
ABE ASCENDING, we see Lincoln portrayed as a man― passionate, vulnerable, courageous, and capable of things we never
before imagined. Up in a balloon.
